“Osho peace of mind” By Lee Tseling

We often use Osho’s active meditations, especially his Kundalini and Dynamic meditations in our sacred relationship workshops.

You can get a two-disc CD set with both meditations from Amazon.com

Excerpts from the article:

“The point of meditation, according to Swami Chaitanya Keerti, is to connect us to our ‘soul energy’. In the process, the unwanted flotsam of my frustrated emotions would surface and leave me in a state of shoomya (emptiness). Now that’s a scary thought.
‘That’s why people never close their eyes and sit still. This is where you have to be brave.’

Conventional meditation isn’t active, but most people can’t keep still straight off.

‘There is tension in the body. You need to lose this,’ said my swami for the day.

We began with 10 minutes of deep, fast and wild breathing, ‘to unfreeze our energy’. This was achieved by continuously snorting out huge lungfuls of air, thereby creating a vacuum in our haras. From there, flames of raw energy would be drawn upwards (giving “fire down below” a whole new meaning that has nothing to do with chillies).

‘The energy, like fire, has one rule: it goes up. As it moves upwards, it is refined and becomes light. When it reaches your third eye, the command centre of the body, it becomes consciousness.’”

College co-ed shares sex secrets

“How size measures up”, by Emily Apatov, October 26, 2005

What’s the difference between “ooh” and “aah”?
“Oh, about four inches,” so the joke goes.

“Generally, girls said they determine their satisfaction with sex by weighing the two components of penis-driven pleasure the same way college admission boards weigh a student’s SAT scores and GPA against the student’s essay: a guy’s performance can be boosted by his penis if it’s a formidable size, and a “good performance” can compensate for absent inches.

Girls who raved about performance agreed a good performance usually entails one or multiple clitoral orgasms. They told me about a variety of unscientific forecasting methods for gauging men’s aptitude for this feat. Some girls believed a guy’s dancing skills reflect his skills in bed. Others held that his ability to stimulate her intellectually presages his ability to anticipate her needs in bed and anticipate how she wants to be touched.”

New translation of the Tibetan Book of the Dead

7:03 AM Posted by 4 Freedoms Energy Sex in Conscious Relationship

From The Guardian, October 22, 2005

The Tibetan Book of the Dead, translated by Gyurme Dorje, edited by Graham Coleman with Thupten Jinpa

This is the first full English translation of Buddhism's guide to the afterlife. Thupten Jinpa, the Dalai Lama's senior translator, has advised on the text, as has Zenkar Rinpoche, a revered lineage-holder of The Tibetan Book of the Dead (its correct interpretation transmitted through an unbroken line of masters). WY Evans-Wentz's English translation of The Tibetan Book of the Dead first appeared in 1927. It was very influential in its time, but only included translation of three chapters of the original work.

“According to Highest Yoga Tantra (from which The Tibetan Book of the Dead derives), only during the process of dying can we achieve liberation from the cycle of existence. The stakes are high: either we become enlightened and attain buddhahood or we are reborn to experience all over again the sufferings of birth, old age, sickness and death, stranded in "the swamp of cyclic existence".

“The Tibetan Book of the Dead is a kind of Baedeker for the afterlife, and like the best guidebooks its reassuring refrain is "Don't panic!" After death, it says, you will be assailed by thunderous sounds and bewildering apparitions as first the peaceful deities rise before you, then the wrathful ones, who drink blood and eat the entrails of bloated corpses. If you are very unlucky, Yama (representing the forces of impermanence and the laws of cause and effect) will chop off your head, lick out your brains and drink your blood, then eat you. The trick is not to be afraid and to remember that you don't have a body any more, so he can't hurt you. These deities are enormous, blotting out the sky, and some have the heads of tigers, vultures, crocodiles, scorpions or bats, but they are also all in our minds. This idea fascinated Jung, who revered The Tibetan Book of the Dead as a great psychological work.”

Tantra: a path of illumination

6:44 AM Posted by 4 Freedoms Energy Sex in Conscious Relationship

“Who is afraid of tantra?”, Sunday Herald, October 23, 2005

According to Dr. Rashmi Poddar, Director (Aesthestics) Department of Philosophy, University of Mumbai and a passionate researcher in Indian philosophy and aesthetic concepts, “contrary to its negative image, tantra is a positive and powerful branch of philosophy…Dr Poddar says that tantra philosophy has been maligned over the centuries by films, television shows, press reports and blind superstition, which talk about secret bloody sacrifices of animals and human beings, nocturnal rituals, black magic and tantrik sadhakas who perform shady deeds in the dark of the night…Many great saints of India, including Adi Shankaracharya, Dnyaneshwar, Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, were believers in the tantra school of philosophy, whose premise was the essential interconnectedness of the universe and the individual. It promoted the arousing of dormant psychic energy in every human being to conjoin with cosmic energy.”

Create your own erotic/sexual/spiritual mandala

8:19 AM Posted by 4 Freedoms Energy Sex in Conscious Relationship

“Create Your Own Erotic Mandala,”, By Mabel Iam, Llewellyn Journal, October 17, 2005

Iam offers simple instructions for using shapes and colors to create your sacred mandala.

“According to Tantric philosophy, once upon a time, the gods found an unnamed energy which vibrated in a perfect way between the heavens and the earth. They called it mandala, which means circle…

Mandalas are circles which power the electromagnetic field of our body and mind, concentrating in them all the images or symbols of the different dimensions or cultures. Owing to the high degree of chemical change at cell level occurring during intercourse, the brain circuits are accelerated in such a way that sometimes, they won’t even allow intercourse to succeed. This can be unblocked through the creation and meditation with mandalas.

To create a mandala, remember that polarities must be expressed – feminine and masculine – as they are expressed in all other vital bonds. One of the most popular magic circles in the world is the Tao mandala Ying and Yang, symbolizing the balance between the masculine and the feminine universes – the dark half, Ying, corresponds to the feminine principle while the white half, Yang, to the masculine. Tao followers use this mandala as a symbol of the perfect road.”

New translation of the Tibetan Book of the Dead

8:11 AM Posted by 4 Freedoms Energy Sex in Conscious Relationship

"The Tibetan Book of the Dead trs Gyurme Dorje," By Jah Wobble, The Independent, October 16, 2005

“This version, translated by Gyurme Dorje and edited by Graham Coleman, is by far the most complete and comprehensive to date. It has been a long time (approximately 17 years) in the making, and has benefited from the close cooperation of a remarkable range of Tibetan masters. It contains an extremely authoritative introductory commentary from His Holiness The Dalai Lama.

Tibetan Buddhists classify the teaching as being of the "Highest Yoga Tantra". The Tantric path includes in its methods techniques that allow dissonant mental states, such as desire/attachment and hatred/aversion, to be transmuted into states of realisation, often through the visualisation of, and identification with, deities. This approach differs, at times radically, from the Sutra path (the original discourses that Sakyamuni Buddha taught publicly). However, it would be a big mistake to assume that these two distinct approaches of Tantra and Sutra are mutually exclusive. Both paths have the same ultimate goal, to achieve Buddhahood, not for the sake of one's own salvation, but rather to help all sentient beings to achieve liberation from the constant round of suffering induced by the Samsaric cycle of birth/ death/reincarnation. The crucial difference between the Sutra and Tantra paths is that the Tantric path is said to be much quicker, and therefore the successful Tantric practitioner can get to alleviate the suffering of others sooner than they otherwise might.”

testosterone means better sex and better health

7:32 AM Posted by 4 Freedoms Energy Sex in Conscious Relationship

“Improve Your Sex Life And Protect Against Heart Attack”, by J. Phillip Vogel, Life Extension Magazine, May 2003

“In youth, testosterone levels are at their peak. Vitality, assertiveness, and libido all thrive in their hormone-induced glory. As we age, however, the endogenous level of this essential androgen begins to drop drastically. By the time a man is 30 years old, he will have already started down the path of testosterone deficiency, losing as much as 2% every year for the rest of his life. This means that by the time he reaches 60 years of age, he will be functioning with about 60% less testosterone than he had in his twenties.

It is now estimated that as many as 40 million men in the U.S. suffer from inadequate levels of testosterone-and most of them don't even know it. They only know that they are depressed, or that their sex drive is not what it used to be. But a lowered sex drive is not the biggest problem associated with testosterone deficiency.

Recent research has revealed that testosterone, long thought to be a causative factor in heart disease, actually prevents many forms of this killer. In fact, at youthful levels testosterone can keep diseases such as atherosclerosis at bay almost indefinitely. With this revelation comes a whole new problem: How do you re-establish youthful levels of testosterone?”

Imagine what a good night’s sleep will do for your sex life!

“Scientists Finding Out What Losing Sleep Does to a Body”, in Life Extension Daily News reprinted from Washingtonpost.com, October 10, 2005

“Physiologic studies suggest that a sleep deficit may put the body into a state of high alert, increasing the production of stress hormones and driving up blood pressure, a major risk factor for heart attacks and strokes. Moreover, people who are sleep-deprived have elevated levels of substances in the blood that indicate a heightened state of inflammation in the body, which has also recently emerged as a major risk factor for heart disease, stroke, cancer and diabetes.”

God, atheism, and all good things

8:39 AM Posted by 4 Freedoms Energy Sex in Conscious Relationship

“Deep Thoughts from a Shallow Man - Religion: an Epistle”, by Ben Tripp, CounterPunch, October 8 / 9, 2005

“From this penchant for asking questions springs god: those questions man cannot answer by proof, he must answer by god. After all, what we crave isn't really answers at all: it's Truth we want. And where Truth cannot be proved, we must have Faith. That's where the whole business falls apart. An atheist, if he were quoting this sentence, would tell you that this life, if it is to be lived sincerely, can not be taken as a down payment on the next life. It's the real thing, and the only thing, and must therefore be experienced with absolute moral and ethical conviction, not to mention gusto. Ironically this means most atheists will behave with the greatest consideration for the wellbeing and keeping of their fellow men, (usually the women also), the world about them, and the refinement of the human spirit. It is all precious, every moment. Waste not. Meanwhile the devoutly religious party, who believes his behavior will be graded after the fashion of an exam, once the bell has rung (or tolled for thee) and the papers have been handed up to the front of the class, will indulge in a lifetime of excesses of one kind and another, sinning one day, penitent the next, and between times damning everybody else for failing to observe proper form. The means justifies the end, because the end is all that matters. The atheist, meanwhile, sees that there is nothing but the means. The end is only the end.”

Extreme asceticism and enlightenment - Japanese style

6:33 AM Posted by 4 Freedoms Energy Sex in Conscious Relationship

"The path to enlightenment: The sacred meets the scared in Japan's Kii Mountains", by John Flinn, San Francisco Chronicle, October 2, 2005

“This is the way of the yamabushi, the fabled Shugendo monks who wander the undulating green mountains of the Kii Peninsula south of Kyoto. Sometimes called "mountain ninjas" -- a colorful but not terribly accurate label -- they seek mystical powers through a rigorous form of asceticism that can include subsisting on a diet of pine needles, standing under waterfalls reciting mantras through chattering teeth and, most famously, hanging by their ankles off the side of this cliff. They've been doing this since the 7th century, but the yamabushi -- the name means "those who lie down in the mountains" -- are hardly mythic figures of the past. They still roam these wooded mountains, and I was hoping very much to encounter one.”
