"Different types of Tantra

There are six types of Tantric study: Hindu Tantra; Buddhist Tantra; Taoist Tantra; Western Neo-Tantra; Quodoushka Tantra and Ipsalu Tantra.

Tantra has been around for over 10,000 years, it is an amazing form of yoga.

Hindu Tantra. The Hindus are accredited with the origins of this sacred path because Tantra flourished in the temples of India centuries ago. Its practices are most commonly known by the text of the Karma Sutra, the ancient bible of lovemaking that describes not just sexual position but the value and practices of love.

Buddhist Tantra. (I use this form of Tantra) Tantric sex practices spread from India through Nepal and into China, where the Taoist traditions incorporated sacred rites and added their own philosophy, movements, and practices.

Taoist Tantra. This practice focused on the tradition of unswerving adherence to ejaculatory control; consistent with the view that not to do so ruins a man's health. (Read: Mantak Chia)

Western Neo-Tantra. This is the American European adaptation of the earlier traditions, based on sexual and spiritual practices made accessible for Western lifestyle and understanding. Neo-Tantra combines: ancient Tantra, Eastern teachings of yoga, Tantra, and Karma Sutra with more familiar Western psychological techniques of various psychological disciplines (transpersonal, cognitive-behavioral, neurolinguistic, gestalt), emotional release processes, massage, somatic therapies (music), and sexual enhancement skills.

Ipsalu Tantra. This form of Tantra focuses on realizing the true self by attention to emotional flow and skillfully designed techniques for safely activating kundalini (powerful and creative) energy. The word Ipsalu is Sanskrit for "transcending illusions of desire," meaning to free ego desires to reach bliss through union with the self, the beloved, and the universe.

Quodoushka. Originally practices of sacred sexuality from ancient Mayan and Toltec schools of learning, this once secret Native American system is now being revived. Quodoushka teaches the fire breath as a means to full-body orgasm. Sexual encounter is meant to align the four directions: south, north, west and east. Sexuality is the center representing the soul, the life force that and connects the body and mind, all beings, and all that exists. "

Quodoushka was never a secret practice. Simply because it was made up by a cult group called the Deer Tribe Metis. It's a collection of fake supposedly Native American Sex seminars, based on made up ceremonies and muddled Eastern Tantra with an emphasis on Sex. The "Q" has often been referred to as a school for sluts. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chuluaqui-Quodoushka

    Hello Anonymous,

That Wikipedia page was an eye opener for me. During all our years of sacred sexuality practice, primarily Tantric and Taoist, we have only heard about Quodoushka, but have never researched it carefully back to its origins. Thanks for pointing out this information. We certainly encourage all readers to follow that Wikipedia link and make up your own minds.

    all good things,
