"Tantra - The Left Hand Path of Love"

"The word sinister in Latin means the left handed path. Even though some puritans have defined the Left handed path as Satanic, it is only logical to assume that we cannot live without the left hand ! Will we cut our left hand off ? Man knows only two paths. The Right Handed Path and the Left Handed Path ! In classical philosophy, the Right Handed Path is the path of Philosophy & Religion. The Left Handed is that of Satan!

The two paths - the Way of Mammon and the Flesh & the Way of Being and of Bliss - are known in Sanskrit as Preyas and Sreyas, as Bhoga & Yoga. All men like Bhoga ( the Way of Mammon ). At the same all aspire for the kingdom of Heaven ( Yoga ). Cant we fuse these 2 paths ? That Fusion, that mighty blend is Tantra!

It is generally believed that man cannot serve two masters God & Mammon. But man is a composite creature. A mixture of good and evil ! " All mixed " said Shaw. Who is there who is cent percent good and who is there who is cent percent evil ? One poet had the audacity to declare that we are serving both masters!

Tantra has been defined as the Left Hand Path of Love. Left refers to the negative Polarity of Yin as contrasted with the positive polarity of Yang. Tantra does not believe in self-abnegation or renouncing sensual pleasures to gain the bliss of the Self. By integrating normal desires along with our super-normal desires ( the desire for Self-fulfillment & Self-empowerment ), we can become one with Truth."

A Transcendental Spiritual Experience

1:45 PM Posted by 4 Freedoms Energy Sex in Conscious Relationship

"Tantra - Expanding Bliss through Sex", Lori Smith, January 27, 2008
"Today in the Western world, there has been a renewal of interest in Tantric practices. Perhaps because our society is “maturing” or perhaps because of a widespread awakening of consciousness we seem to be gravitating towards the lessons in conscious intimacy that Tantra has to offer. What is most experiential is also most spiritual. In other words, when you allow yourself to be deeply moved by an experience by feeling it in your body and letting go of the ego’s need to control things, then you are having what mystics have called a spiritual experience.

In essence Tantric sex is a spiritual practice – like meditation or yoga. It is not so much aimed at self-indulgence or pleasure as an end in itself. Tantra uses pleasure and sexuality, with all of its rawness, social stigma, fear, vulnerability, and ignorance to crack open the ego so that you can be present with your lover, and ultimately, with your self. In fact, the experiences one has practicing Tantra can be seen as a metaphor for other aspects of your life and can give you “tools” for being more present and aware throughout your day.

One of the beauties of Tantra is that it is a partnered path of learning. In a sense, your partner is your teacher or guru. To trust another with your personal growth is the ultimate act of surrender. Surrender is where breakthroughs happen. If two people can do that for each other, taking conscious risks that gently stretch the limits of their comfort zones, they can realize great growth—both individually and as partners."

Tantra: The Royal Path of Meditation

3:26 PM Posted by 4 Freedoms Energy Sex in Conscious Relationship

" What does sex have to do with Tantra", Prem Tantra Blog, January 26, 2008

"Tantra is an ancient path of meditation with roots in both Hindu and Tibetan Buddhist spirituality. It is called the "Royal Path" because, in ancient times, Tantra was the spiritual path taken only by those who had mastered all other paths. Tantric writings date back over 5,000 years and are still used in many modern meditation teachings today.

Of these writings, perhaps the best known is the Vigyan Bhairav Tantra. The Vigyan Bhairav is a Hindu Tantric text which consists of 112 meditations designed specifically to center, to bring the meditator to a single point of focus, that point being this moment, and this moment only. It has been said that Tantra is the fast track to enlightenment by virtue of the sophistication required to practice its meditations. It is the Tantric's ability to surrender to the paradox of duality in every moment that hones him or her to the sharpness of adeptdom. Of the 112 Tantric meditations given in the Vigyan Bhairav, only 3 of these are sexual meditations. So, why the focus on sex in Tantra?

Why are so many Tantric explorations begun in the sexual realm? If Tantra is a science of meditation that includes all of life and living, why do the teachers of modern times bring so much emphasis to the sexual aspects of the path?

It's true that Tantra views every facet of human experience, including sex, as potential for personal transformation and self-actualization. For the Tantric, life is a meditation. Every activity . . .eating, drinking, breathing, dancing, making love . . . can be entered into with awareness, bringing a quality of meditation into even these simplest of acts.

Psycho-Spiritual Energy

1:40 PM Posted by 4 Freedoms Energy Sex in Conscious Relationship

"Breathing for Meditation", Jennifer Lawless, January 21, 2007
"Kundalini is a psycho-spiritual energy which is thought to reside within the body and is aroused through spiritual practices to bring new states of consciousness, including mystical illumination. Kundalini is Sanskrit for "snake" or "serpent power," so called because it is believed to lie like a serpent in the root chakra at the base of the spine. One of the goals of Tantric practice is to awaken kundalini.

Breathing is the MOST important part of meditation and Kundalini Awakening. It's the foundation of all the exercises and skills that come after, so taking the time to learn it now will make things much easier.

From our birth until death we breathe more or less continually, yet for the most part we do it without any awareness of our breath and its effects on us, and believe it or not most people in the western world do it wrong!"

The Myth of Tantra

1:14 PM Posted by 4 Freedoms Energy Sex in Conscious Relationship

"History of Tantra",Schooltiger, December 15, 2007

"It is difficult to trace the history of tantra which is mostly obscure as in case of the history of religions. Many tantras offer mythical explanations for their origins, often setting themselves as the given word of either Siva or a goddess such as Devi. Scholarly depictions of their origins are often as varied, ascribing tantras to pre-Aryan, Indus Valley civilizations or similar aboriginal, tribal groups or as integral part of an Indian cultural fabric. In reality, no definitive accounting of the origins of tantra can be made owing to the significant polyvariance of the term tantra in Sanskrit. Tantra, which in its earliest written form was a distinctly iconoclastic, private, and esoteric practice, evolved into a number of respected, exoteric orders (sampradaya). It is convenient, although somewhat false, to group the orders into two categories: left-handed and right-handed. Left-handed tantras (vaama marg) incorporate five sacraments (pancamakarapuja) of fish, meat, parched grain, wine and sexual intercourse into ritual practice. Right-handed tantras, on the other hand, advocate the visualization of these antinomian practices. Both groups rejected many aspects of Brahamanic orthopraxy, most notably the caste system and patriarchy. Despite this, Tantra was accepted by some high-caste Hindus, most notably the Rajput princes. Nowadays Tantra has a large, though not always well-informed, following worldwide.

Hindu tantra

Tantra exists in Vaisnava, Shaiva, and Shakta forms, among others. Extolled as a short-cut to self-realization and spiritual enlightenment by some, left-hand tantric rites are often rejected as dangerous by most orthodox Hindus. The popular perception of tantra among Hindus espoused in Indian journalism, equates it with black magic. Some tantric aspirants simply feel the union is accomplished internally and with spiritual entities of various kinds. For this reason, almost all tantric writing has a gross, higher and subtle meaning. This tripartite system of understanding readily obscures the true purport of many passages for those without the necessary background or deeper understandings so crucial to tantra. Thus, a 'union' could mean the actual act of sexual intercourse, ritual uniting of concepts through chanting and sacrifice, or realisation of one's true self in the cosmic joining of the divine principles of Shiva and Shakti in Para Shiva."

Tantra Causes Trance

2:18 PM Posted by 4 Freedoms Energy Sex in Conscious Relationship

"Tantra Basics: Trance", Green Rootsdown, December 27, 2007
"One of the things Tantra does for me is cause trance.

So what you might ask?

Well that trance does a lot of things for me. It causes endorphins to rush into my body. It causes my mind to relax from stressful occupations. It creates a psychological distance between my every day experience and my emotions, which creates space for intellectual perspective…which often results in emotional shifts that need to happen for me to be balanced. It also creates a sense of being a part of something greater than myself because my perspective is expansive and includes all that’s around me in a way that isn’t attached to any one thing. I have no inner barriers. A mind in a trance, doesn’t need them…in fact they are in the way of the trance. It puts a color and sense of holiness on the mundane things in my life. It puts me in touch with my soul.

If that sounds good, then I’m sure that achieving trance for sex sounds good to you too….which is the heart of Tantra really.

Achieving trance is not that difficult once you know what causes it.

The easiest is to alter your breathing pattern to one that either increases oxygen to the brain or decreases it. Speeding the pattern increases, decreasing or holding the breath obviously decreases oxygen in the brain."

The Left Hand Tantra

12:14 PM Posted by 4 Freedoms Energy Sex in Conscious Relationship

"The Practice of Left Hand Tantra: Vama Marga", Jennifer Lawless, January 11,2008
"The term Tantra sometimes creates confusion because Tantra has become associated with sex in the West, but a minimal amount of research reveals that not all Tantric traditions include sex in their practices. The branch of Tantra that does use sexual practices for spiritual development is called vama marga or left hand Tantra, due to the fact that women, who are of lunar influence, negative polarity or the left, play an essential role in this science."

Cannabis effects on Sex

4:05 PM Posted by 4 Freedoms Energy Sex in Conscious Relationship

"Cannabis and Sex" by Erik McBride, Thc-ministry.net, no date

"Cannabis can have some extremely potent effects on sex. Some of the effects are directly physiological, while many others are simply perceived – but a perceived effect more often than not also leads to an actual, physiological change.

Throughout history, Cannabis and its preparations such as Bhang and Hashish have been used for sexual reasons. Some used it as an aphrodisiac, and some used it as an inhibitor. Because of the multiple uses of Cannabis for sexual reasons in history and the taboo (and often illegal) status of this ancient, sacred plant today it can be difficult to establish just exactly how this plant affects us and our sexual natures.

When we think of Cannabis, we may think of some of the propaganda spread by those who would like to exterminate the plant. Some of us may have heard rumors that smoking Cannabis will cause men to grow breasts, make your hair fall out, cause both women and men to become infertile, transform a heterosexual into a homosexual, and other nonsense. These claims and rumors are completely unfounded, and are really just intended to scare you. Most of these claims are based on pseudo-scientific studies with bad or lack of controls, or wrongly theorized from results of some of these same tests. These rumors are based off of hormonal changes in the body that come from perceived effects – for instance, if you become calm after consuming Cannabis, your testosterone levels may slightly decline, but you will not sprout a prestigious pair of mammary glands from a lower level of this hormone, and it will not cause all your hair to fall out. Reports that Cannabis reduces your fertility are likewise unfounded, as they are based primarily off of “lower than average” sperm counts in the male and reported changes in ovulation (reported, not observed through studies in humans, mind you) in females."

Tantra Sacred Sexuality

9:37 AM Posted by 4 Freedoms Energy Sex in Conscious Relationship

"Tantra Sacred Sexuality", AdultImageConsulting.com, January 2, 2008

"Tantra is a very popular word used to describe a new way of viewing intimacy and sexuality. Instead of being a hidden temptation or a tawdry affair, Tantra says that sexual energy is the most natural thing in the world. Today, both men and women everywhere are discovering more positive ways of enjoying sexual intimacy in their everyday lives. They are interested in learning ways to be more creative, sensitive, and caring with their partners. For many, Tantra is a new and exciting alternative to more limiting sexual beliefs. Tantra promotes the view that sex can become a sacred connection between lovers.

Tantra says that while one can enjoy the arousing pleasure of sex, it is best to avoid media-driven sensationalism. Tantra focuses on bringing your awareness to the sensations you are having in the body. Sexual energy, when its primal forces begin to move, acts to stimulate the release of certain hormones throughout the system, and is one of the ways the body keeps healthy. What matters is not how you look, or how well you perform; what matters is learning to accept and appreciate the natural sensations of the body. The word “sacred” means our sexual energy is a precious treasure. This energy, which is sometimes called prana or ching, is the primal creative life-force of the universe. Considering it sacred means to be authentic and appreciating the fullness of your senses."
